Overview

Atmospheric FRP Storage Tanks produced by our company are meticulously crafted using high-performance resins and alkali-free glass fibers through computer-controlled filament winding technology. Renowned for their exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, long service life, lightweight design, and easy installation, these tanks are widely used in liquid storage and treatment across industries such as chemical processing, environmental protection, water treatment, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and metallurgy. They serve as an ideal replacement for traditional carbon steel, stainless steel, and plastic containers.

Core Advantages

  • Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: Withstands a wide range of acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents, offering a service life far exceeding that of metal containers.
  • Lightweight Yet High Strength: With a specific gravity only one-fourth that of steel and a high strength-to-weight ratio, these tanks are easy to transport and install.
  • Long-Term Durability: Features anti-aging and UV-resistant properties, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use with minimal maintenance costs.
  • Clean and Eco-Friendly: The mirror-smooth interior surface prevents scaling and leaching, ensuring the purity of stored media.
  • Flexible Design: Customizable in size, openings, flanges, and internal structures to meet specific customer requirements.

Product Characteristics

  • Excellent corrosion resistance
This is the most prominent feature of FRP tanks. By selecting different resin systems (such as isophthalic, vinyl ester, epoxy, etc.), they can resist corrosion from various complex media including acids, alkalis, salts, organic solvents, wastewater, and seawater. Their service life far exceeds that of carbon steel and ordinary stainless steel, without the need for expensive anti-corrosion coatings or cathodic protection.
  • Lightweight and high‑strength, easy to install
The specific gravity of FRP is approximately 1.8‑2.1 g/cm³, only one‑fourth that of steel, while its specific strength (strength‑to‑density ratio) can approach or even exceed that of ordinary carbon steel. The extremely light weight of the tank significantly reduces the difficulty and cost of transportation, hoisting, and foundation construction, making it particularly suitable for use in remote areas or sites with limited installation space.
  • Excellent mechanical and design flexibility
Designable anisotropy: Through computer‑controlled winding processes, fiber layering and angles can be optimized in the radial and axial directions based on the stress conditions of the tank, achieving the most efficient use of materials.
Integral molding: The tank body and heads are wound as a single unit without seams, eliminating potential leakage risks and ensuring excellent structural integrity.
  • Long‑lasting durability with extremely low maintenance costs
Aging resistance: The outer surface layer can be supplemented with UV absorbers and anti‑aging agents, effectively slowing down the degradation process during outdoor use.
Fouling and corrosion prevention: The interior wall is mirror‑smooth, resistant to scaling and microbial growth, and free from electrochemical corrosion, eliminating the need for periodic anti‑corrosion maintenance like that required for metal tanks.
  • Safe, environmentally friendly, and highly clean
Non‑polluting: The material is inert and does not release ions into the stored medium, effectively ensuring the purity of the contents—making it particularly suitable for the food, pharmaceutical, and ultrapure water industries.
Leak‑proof: A complete inner lining layer and dense structure ensure excellent impermeability.
  • Good thermal insulation and electrical insulation properties
Natural thermal insulation: FRP material has a low thermal conductivity, approximately 1/100 that of steel, which aids in maintaining the temperature of the medium.
Insulation safety: It is inherently an electrical insulator, eliminating concerns about stray current corrosion and making it safer for use in explosion‑proof areas.
  • High comprehensive cost‑effectiveness
Although the initial investment may be relatively high, its exceptionally long service life, nearly zero maintenance costs, low installation and transportation expenses, and absence of anti‑corrosion treatments result in a total lifecycle cost that is typically significantly lower than that of metal storage tanks.

Application Fields

  • Chemical and Petrochemical Industry
Raw Material and Product Storage: Storage of various acids (e.g., hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid), alkalis (e.g., liquid caustic soda), salt solutions, organic solvents, and intermediates.
Process Vessels: Used as auxiliary storage tanks, separation tanks, buffer tanks, metering tanks, etc., for reactors.
  • Safe, environmentally friendly, and highly clean
Chemical Storage for Water Treatment: Dosing and storage tanks for chemicals such as hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite, and flocculants.
Wastewater/Sewage Storage and Treatment: Collection and temporary storage of acidic/alkaline industrial wastewater, electroplating effluent, and cleaning wastewater.
Pure Water/Ultrapure Water Systems: Storage of high‑purity water like RO water and EDI product water, ensuring no secondary contamination of water quality.
  • Power and Metallurgical Industry
Desulfurization Systems: Storage tanks for limestone slurry and gypsum slurry in wet flue gas desulfurization.
Pickling and Electrolysis: Storage of steel pickling solutions (e.g., hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid) and electrolytes (e.g., copper electrolyte).
Flue Gas Scrubbing Solutions: Storage of alkaline solutions or other absorbents for exhaust gas treatment.
